My copy just arrived and, flipping through it, ended up reading the two page section of The Great Movie Ride which consists of twelve short paragraphs. Though I consider myself to be rather knowledgeable about WDW, each of the twelve paragraphs taught me something new. I was 0 for 12! I look forward to reading the other 176 pages.
I am a big Disney fan and have read a lot of books on the subject, but this contained information I was not aware of. I would consider it a must-read for any Disney fan. The book is a quick read, but still was packed with lots of interesting information. This book also get me interested in other books by Jim Korkis who is quite a Disney expert!
I really enjoyed reading this book and learning new things about WDW. I loved how it was also split up into very small "chapters" or sections which made it really easy to just read a bit here and there instead of feeling like I needed to read it for hours at the time. Great for when you want to read just a little in between things or right before bed!
I'm a long time Disney fan and have visited Walt Disney World many times.. I've read most of the books about Disney "secrets" and was please to find that there were things in this book I didn't know. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the subject.
Another winner by Jim "Disney Historian" Korkis. This was so interesting, I read the whole book in one session!Thanks Jim for all your research; now I will have to buy the other editions so I can see if there are other things I thought I knew.

This book is a great read for anyone looking to expand their understanding of women's roles in Ancient Israel. While Rev. Gafney is Christian, I found her to be completely non-dogmatic. I was actually very surprised to learn she is Christian and not Jewish, based on her writing in this book.As a Kohenet ([...]), this book fit beautifully into the teachings of my religious order and expanded my understanding of certain areas of the text we had studied.I recommend this book to anyone Jewish or Christian looking to explore women's roles and traditions in the Torah.
I am a fan of Gafney's work, but was worried that this piece might not be accessible for "the average consumer." Not the case at all! I use one of her chapters with participants in a church Bible study and, with a little help, the people fully engaged around the material.
This is for certain people and I chose this for my Christian studies. I enjoyed it very much.
This book is unique in its genre. It not only gives a great overview of scholarship about women prophets in the Hebrew Bible, but it offers its own theses including the idea that there are many more female voices than the modern reader recognizes in the Hebrew Bible. Gafney is thoughtful and convincing.

This is an excellent book. It gives a good overview of women prophets in Hebrew scriptures and also in the wider Ancient Near Eastern Environment. The book is well documented and provides great bibliographical resources for those wanting to pursue further research.
The author is certainly readable and follows accepted academic standards for citations, etc. Her thesis is that certain Hebrew plural pronouns and verbs POSSIBLY indicate both females and males in translation. She cites the accepted knowledge about prophetic ministries of both sexes in non-Hebraic cultures of the pre-Israelite ANE. Her introductory commentary on feminist interpetations is quite current and most clear. She promotes a "flexible interpretation" (p.18) of scripture, as well as interpretations about the practicioners of "non-sanctioned inquiry techniques" (p. 24). Much of her thesis rests upon her particular translation abilities and interpetations, and her identification of nuances not evident to Hebraists in the last several centuries. In NIV Ex 38:8 we read "8 They made the bronze basin and its bronze stand from the mirrors of the women who served at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting." The author translates "women" as "warriors" and is certainly not ambiguous in asserting: "In keeping with the martial range of tz-b-' and the desert-sanctuary context, I translate hatzov'ot asher tzaue'v as 'the women-warriors stationed'" (p.154). On the same page, the author claims: "I found it highly likely that their mirrors, mar'ot, were used a signaling devices in combat, making the women a Bronze Age Signal Corps.." If the author's conclusions from the tenuous premises arouse you, then you will undoubtedly like this book. If they don't, then....

I read the entire book (267 pages minus appendices) over four weeks. I highlighted, underlined, and wrote notes on almost every page. I collated the notes into a complete marketing plan, according to the book format. And the result was better preparation to promote an independent music project on a limited budget.This book is the premier one. It was published in late 2014 by a 25-yr music-industry veteran. I struggle to find titles that compare evenly. Having said that, every work has its strengths and weaknesses:WEAKNESSES* The self examination required of realistic marketing planning can lead to negative feelings. It's unfair to lay this at the feet of the book, but the impact is challenging to absorb and so bears mentioning.* Most independent musicians begin the marketing process with songs or even a CD in hand. The book begins (logically) at inception. Because of this, it can be dry in the early chapters until you catch up to your point in the process.* The format becomes repetitive at times.* The book is not less than a college textbook. If you're only up for an online article, there is a lot to parse and disregard.STRENGTHS* A consistent, upbeat tone. The editing is excellent. The layout is complimentary and easy to follow.* The chapters are topical and robust. Incredibly well-referenced.* In taking the reader as unknown, the author prompts them to apply marketing principles according to their goals and means. While requiring a greater investment of concentration, the result is a better understanding of where they fit in the music industry and where to focus their efforts.* Comprehensive treatment of topics lends exposure to what is possible and promotes a better-integrated strategy.To top it off, the author is gracious. Would I recommend this book to a musician friend? You bet. (4.5/5 stars.)

With the changing landscape of music distribution and consumption, it can be very difficult to get one's head around the best way of building an audience and distributing independent music. This book is the best resource I have seen for approaching marketing as an independent artist. There are so many ideas and resources in here that I found myself going back over sections with a highlighter to make sure I could easily find the nuggets of information I wanted to come back to. In fact, there is so much here that it can be overwhelming to digest it all. However, Bobby has synthesized all these ideas with templates, a sample marketing plan, a great directory of resources and excellent summaries such that the wealth of information never becomes a roadblock to execution. I can't recommend it highly enough.
The book has a well ordered and explained guide for the whole marketing process.The most valuable thing for me was the references of books and other reliable sources.
Awesome Book! Very Informative!. For someone who has been out of the music industry for a while and has recently reentered into it, this book makes complete sense. It's concepts are easy to follow and simple to apply to online music, to boost up sales. I would be lost if It hadn't been for Music Marketing for the DIY Muscian Book. It is very well organized and logical, I enjoyed reading some of the articles on the already famous. The stuggles they endured place light on their humanity.
