Even as someone who was born in Yangon, Myanmar, I found this book to be very insightful about my country, culture and the religious places to visit (even for those who are only spiritual or atheists). The photos inside the book are exceptionally beautiful and accurate. This book helped me better understand my country of birth, after my long absence and overdue return. While the deck concept is absolutely gorgeous, the card quality is terrible! No gilded edges either, which, in my opinion, adds to the over all deck appearance. Plus, one of the cards from the middle of the deck came crumbled, how the heck did that happen? Another card has three cuts on the top right corner which will become a problem over time and with use. Now, the individual cards are gorgeous, yet while some are crystal clear, others are blurry. Not sure if the blurriness is supposed to depict dreamy qualities, if so, it falls a wee bit short of that. Could also be my eyeballs and allergies!I just contacted Hay House and was told that the gilded edges were discontinued because of cards sticking together and being ruined when pulled apart and when shuffled. Also, the person who chatted with me was very helpful and nice.Overall, this deck is gorgeous! I love it!P.S.~I exchanged this deck for a similar one. The replacement deck has 7 defective cards! The other deck had 2. Not happy at all!P.P.S.~ My two replacement cards arrived today. Very thankful for them, and the colors and pictures are sharper, clearer, and they have gilded edges. That's all I'm gonna say.
I was excited to receive this and I must say I'm not disappointed at all but it wasn't quite what I was expectibg either. First, despite having never been open as was evident by the shrink wrap still intact, the cards were all bent in a very obvious curve. I've managed to bend them mostly straight but despite the lovely images I found the cardstock to be of a lower grade, flimsy, and with the edges easy to mark up. The edges are also an unattractive white but that can be fixed by inking them with your desired color. The cards themselves are interesting enough. They're like fantasy themed archetypes though I did find the keyword for "abundance" among three or four cards a bit repetitive. The keywords are also lacking and a bit vague, as if disconnected from giving a solid meaning in some cases. The book provides a paragraph of a story styled description but you will have to draw some solid meaning from it. Not really made for readers who are more straightforward and to the point. Great if you're more of a poetic reader and are able to draw well from abstract concepts rather than more distinctive and established archetypal figures.
So this deck is what made me decide to write a review on all of my tarot cards so I could measure my thoughts on each. I recently bought 3 different ones going by "what I was led to" and this one just drew me in off the cover and i have been pleasantly surprised by my use of them now for almost 2 months on a daily basis. The artwork is ahhhhmazing! The inclusion of "Ally" and "Challenger" was a bit different for me to get used to and when i thought about it of course some cards will come up upside down. Despite that commonality in readings and working with cards, of my three decks this one is the only one to offer a different interpretation depending on how the cards fall. The guidebook is great and very insightful! One of my favorite parts about this deck more than ANY OTHER I have seen relates to the wide spectrum of diversity riddled throughout the deck wherein which it is not just white and female depictions, but there are Asians, African American, males, etc...I even have taken pics of my cards and sent them to friends who did not believe you could even see a black woman or an Asian man featured on a tarot card. For that alone this deck deserves 10 stars. While race does not and should not matter, if/when you give readings there will be diversity in how people look and its nice to see various representation of eternal, angelic beauty across racial and gendered lines that are intentionally sketched as opposed to merely putting a darker tone to a normally white figure. So thank you to the author/artist of this deck for reminding the world of the vast diversity in representation. I will end in saying too that these cards are SO on point often its eery to consider. I'm a beginner but I was pleasantly surprised to see a woman I got a past life reading from had the same deck in her living room glass case and she said the same, that it is one of her favorites. HIGHLY recommend!!!!!!!

I am very happy this book came out,I am a very big fan of the the baby sitters club books and I am sooooo happy the 6th book came out! It's very cool that Mallory became the 6th member of the baby sitters club last book,when there were 5 members,in the 5th book,and now,there are 6 members,and its book 6!!!!! Hahaha!!! Its actually funny once you think about it. My favorite part about the book is probably the 5 days watching the kids! And also doing a "rehearsal wedding" seems like a great idea! It seems like an example of what the real thing will be like. It seems like an amazing idea for real life with chores,wedding,school plays,and more!!!I can not wait until book 7 comes out!Who is it, I think Mary Anne's turn to do it in 1st person??? And by the way Ann Martin you are a VERY good writer and I have been recommending this series for YEARS. Well that's it from me and thank you for taking the time to read my review. Bye!🦄
During my days in middle school, I was a huge Babysitter’s Club fan! I read all the books, including the Little Sister’s series. I even owned the movie! It was absolutely terrible, but I wore that old VHS tape out! I was obsessed with this amazing club of best friends that created a booming babysitting empire.I so wanted to be one of them until I realized that many of my friends hated babysitting. My dreams of having my own club were crushed but at least I could live vicariously through the lives of Kristy, Stacie, Claudia, Mary-Ann, and Malory.When I saw that they were bringing back the Babysitter’s Club series, I was ecstatic! I couldn't wait to get my hands on the updated version of my childhood favorites. (Sad to know that I was 30 when this all went down, but no judgment in book world!)The moment I picked up the first book in the series and saw how brightly illustrated and modern it looked, I knew my beloved series was officially back on top! The decision to turn the Babysitter’s Club into a graphic novel series was just absolutely brilliant and revolutionary. It has been years since I have seen any of my students carrying around one of my beloved Babysitter’s Club books.Now, they all are reading them. The original illustrator was Raina Telgemeier.Kristy’s Big Day tells the story of Kristy and her family preparing for her mom’s marriage to Watson. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the wedding has to take place in a manner of weeks. Kristy’s mom is panicked and in desperate need of help. Enter in the Babysitter’s Club. The Babysitter’s Club agrees to help to babysit all the kids that are in town for the wedding. How many kids are we talking about? That number would be 13 kids that our favorite babysitters need to take care of for an entire week. Naturally, with that many kids and a big wedding happening, this get chaotic!I absolutely recommend any book in this series. The idea to revitalize this beloved series was just amazing! Any upper elementary to an adult reader would enjoy the new Babysitter's Club Graphix series!

This was a delightful book. I have enjoyed all of the babysitters' club books. The art work is so colorful and joyful and the stories of the friendships between the girls is wonderful. this story focuses on an upcoming wedding and the blending of 2 families while the girls plan and organized babysitting for a large number of children. Some wonderful messages about families and friendships.

One of my daughter ‘s favorite books during these days. She collects all the baby sitters Club books and introduces them to all her good friends.
The new baby sitter book is pretty good because it was a bit more awesome then the 5 it was great.
My daughter is obsessed with this series. As a third grader she's at that inbetween age where she still wants pictures but needs more challenger vocabulary and this series delivers.

Spanning much of western Virginia, the combined George Washington and Jefferson National Forests provide some of the best and most abundant hiking in Virginia. Being an avid hiker and planning to spend a few months in central Virginia, I chose to purchase this guide to give me some hiking ideas. Unfortunately, I was not particularly happy with what I got.This guide describes trails from 10 selected areas in the national forests. While the selected areas range geographically from Big Schloss in the north to Mount Rogers in the south, all of the areas selected are remote wilderness areas. Many excellent dayhiking trails (such as the Cascades Trail near Blacksburg) are left out. While some people enjoy long wilderness dayhikes or backpacking trips, many hikers (such as myself) prefer more manageable dayhikes. Due to the areas selected for description, very few hikes in this book fit into that category. While it would be impossible to describe all of the national forest trails in 193 pocket-sized pages, more variety would allow this book to be used by a wider audience.Normally in my reviews I give a description of what is included with each hike. With this guide, that is somewhat difficult because Karin doesn't really describe hikes. Instead, she simply describes each trail in the selected area, usually giving no indication as to how they might be put together to get a nice loop (or other) hike. The problem with this method is that the author ends up merely recounting facts about the trail rather than describing a hiking experience. As such, while the descriptions contain some good information, it is hard to get a feel for what hiking this trail in person would be like. Also, while each selected area comes with an area map (with contour lines!) and an area overview, you have to be careful relying on her maps: quite a few details are omitted, and frequently the maps have been rotated on the page so as to best fit the shape of the region (so north is not necessarily "up"). Thus, in addition to leaving a lot of hikes out, the descriptions that do appear in this book leave somewhat to be desired.In conclusion, if you are looking for some detailed information on the wilderness areas in George Washington and Jefferson National Forests, perhaps for a backpacking trip, this guide might be of interest to you. For the rest of us, this guide will be too narrow in focus and too hard to use. Most people should consider one of the 50-hikes books instead of this guide.

My DD loves this piano book & has been working hard learning the songs!! It is a glue binding, so be sure to handle it w/care so the pages don't year out, but other than that it is a nice book :). 4 stars due to the binding being a bit weak, IMO.

What Was the Vietnam War? In 1969, the fight over “Hamburger Hill” was typical of the no-win battles fought again and again during the long Vietnam War. (You say Vietnam like this: vee-et-nahm.) For ten days, a very bloody battle raged on the hill. It was in central Vietnam, near its western border. On US maps, it was simply labeled as Hill 937. US Marine and Army units were fighting together with soldiers from South Vietnam. They wanted to capture the hill, which was under enemy control. It was on the enemy’s main route for supplies. Who was the enemy? The communist forces known as the North Vietnamese Army (NVA). When the NVA finally abandoned Hamburger Hill, they left behind the bodies of almost seven hundred of their soldiers. As for the US and South Vietnamese army forces, they lost a total of 72 men, and another 372 were wounded. Hamburger Hill was considered a victory for the United States and South Vietnam. But after occupying the hill for only a few days, they abandoned it to move on to a new battleground. Very quickly, the NVA took back the hill. So what was gained in the battle? Fifty years later, many questions about the Vietnam War are still being debated. What were the reasons for US troops fighting in Vietnam, a small Southeast Asian country on the other side of the world? Why did North Vietnam end up winning? What made the United States government wait so long to pull its troops out? And, most important of all, were any lessons learned? Chapter 1: Where Is Vietnam? The Socialist Republic of Vietnam (that is the country’s name today) is a small country in Southeast Asia. It is smaller than the state of California. Vietnam is bordered by China to the north; Laos, as well as Cambodia, to the west; and the South China Sea to the east. It has a tropical climate, with temperatures often nearing one hundred degrees Fahrenheit. The coasts, where the land is flat and open, are great for growing rice, so Vietnamese people eat a lot of it. It’s mountainous in the central and northern parts of the country, and there are dense jungles throughout the far south. Today, Vietnam has a population of around ninety-six million. But at the end of the Vietnam War, there were only about forty-four million people. Now, 61 percent of the population is under the age of thirty-five. Hanoi (say: hah-noy) is the capital and the second-largest city after Ho Chi Minh City (say: hoh chee min). (Until the war’s end, it was known as Saigon.) For two thousand years, Vietnam’s greatest enemy was China. China invaded Vietnam many times and finally conquered it in 111 BC. The Chinese ruled the country for over a thousand years. The Vietnamese hated the Chinese and tried many times to regain their independence. Finally, in AD 939, they were successful. The Chinese rulers were pushed out. After that, the Vietnamese ruled themselves until the middle of the nineteenth century. That is when the French arrived. It was an era when many countries in western Europe decided to colonize (seize control of) countries in southern Asia and in Africa. By 1884, France had control of all of Vietnam. Over the next seventy years, the French held Vietnam. They tried to make as much money off the country as they could. The French exported so much of the rice grown in the south that there was not enough for the Vietnamese peasants to eat. The French in Vietnam grew rich. Many lived on large plantations where they grew rubber trees, tea, coffee, and, most of all, rice. They paid no taxes on their income. The poorest Vietnamese people were heavily taxed on the little money they made. The French used Vietnamese workers to build roads, bridges, and railroads. They built many beautiful buildings in Saigon. One railroad line went from Saigon in the south to Hanoi in the north, a distance of about one thousand miles. However, instead of paying for labor, the French forced entire villages to work on the railroad line for free. Many workers, underfed and overworked in the tropical heat, became ill and died. Twenty-five thousand Vietnamese people, as well as Chinese workers, died building one three-hundred-mile stretch of railway. To make a lot of money, the French also encouraged the Vietnamese to use the drug opium. Opium comes from the poppy flower, and poppies grow easily in Vietnam. The French set up a building for processing opium in Saigon. It produced opium that was very pure and burned fast. (Opium is smoked through a pipe.) Opium addiction grew. The Vietnamese bought more and more opium. The French taxed opium sales so heavily, at one point the drug counted for one-third of Vietnam’s economy. Anyone who objected to the way France was ruling Vietnam ended up in jail. Some protesters were even executed. The treatment of the Vietnamese people was terrible. Many of them wanted the French to go. Of course, the French government was not going to leave willingly. They would have to be forced out. To the Vietnamese, this was the beginning of a revolution for independence. To the French, and later the Americans, it was the beginning of a war. By the late 1930s, Vietnamese rebels began grouping together to fight a war of resistance against French rule. In World War II, when Japan invaded Vietnam, the rebels fought against the Japanese, too. The rebels called themselves the Vietminh (say: vee-et-min). That meant “League for the Independence of Vietnam.” After World War II ended with Japan’s defeat, the French wanted to control Vietnam again. France had always been on great terms with the United States—ever since the American Revolution, in fact. So the United States was on the side of the French. For the Vietminh, the United States was now seen as an enemy, too.
