It's a great idea, but we found the sequel to be significantly better than this one. Graphics, scenes, and objects are all much better details in the "Around-The-Town" book that recent became published. If you had to choose, get the sequel. Otherwise, this one isn't bad.
This is a nice book. It has good quality glossy pages. There are 5 things to find on each page.
My 2 year old decided she loves Curious George after I got her the 4 book small set. For XMas she got a plush toy and this book, and couldn't be happier. She can find George very quickly in these pages -- this isn't Where's Waldo by any means -- but there's so many other things to find on each page that we just play a game to find a few new things each time through. Great for the 2-3 year olds who are very interested in finding and naming things. I also hide the doll around the house sometimes and she goes to find it like in the book, so they go great together.
Our 2 year old has been reading this book at least twice every day since he got it over two weeks ago. The drawings are beautiful and there’s quite a bit to look at and for. I was surprised by how many pages there were, but maybe it only feels like that at bed time when the little mister wants to stay up an extra 5 minutes. Will buy the other book(s) like this one for his birthday.
My 3-year-old granddaughter, who is a big fan of Curious George, loves this book! Every time we turn the page, George is hiding in a new place. She loves finding George and all the other "hidden objects" on each page. It's reminiscent of the "Where's Waldo?" books, only simplified for toddlers.
This look and find book is awesome. My 2 year old is really into these right now and also likes curious George, not to mention the very cheap price was fantastic. This was a great buy all in all. More pages than expected. A very nice hard cover and also very nice, thicker pages. I am very pleased with this purchase! My daughter loves the book!
My almost 3 year old had started requesting stories at bedtime in place of books. I ordered this to "change up" our book routine in the evening and it worked great! There is a rhyming story to it but also keeps him engaged looking for all of the different objects. We are both enjoying coming up with new objects to find nightly. The pages are thick and glossy so hopefully it can stay around for our 1 year old to enjoy in the future.
We love curious George! Bought for a 4-year old I think it’s better for younger kids... The things to find aren’t very well hidden. :) The Eye Spy books are better for 4 year olds.

The thing I love best about this book is its name. Cupcakes and Cashmere brings to mind a frothy femininity, a combination of childlike delight and sophisticated luxury. I am always up for defining my style, reinventing my space and entertaining with ease, so this book shot to the top of my "must preorder" list. Emily Schuman's blog is a charming combination of fashion, decorating, cooking, and all the usual blogging arts. This seemed like a sure thing!Alas, it's the kind of book you give an awkward preteen so she learns to put on eyeshadow correctly without looking like a raccoon. (Except it also talks about spiking Kool-aid with tequila, so don't actually give this to a kid.) The advice is painfully basic. If we didn't know that evening sandals are more formal than sneakers, Ms. Schuman lays this out in a chart for us. We also learn how to put on our lipstick, blow-dry our hair and paint our nails. ("I usually try to do one [coat] down the middle and one on either side," she coaches.) Perhaps in a future volume she'll share secrets on tying our shoelaces or brushing our teeth.Well, perhaps I'm being unkind. I'm obviously not the intended audience for this book. The photography is lovely, if a touch blurry. I was pleased to see a section on handwritten thank-you notes, and I enjoyed the section on posing for photographs. The colors are soft and lovely throughout, as you'd expect from the pretty pictures on the blog. Ms. Schuman comes across as a sincere girl-next-door who genuinely wants to help bring out the best in others. I also liked that this book isn't overly brand conscious; you won't come away feeling like you have to rob a bank if you want to live the lifestyle presented here.The real issue is that Ms. Schuman is not extraordinarily good at any of the things she writes about. She is pretty and dresses well, but she hasn't got the experience to walk other people through a top-to-bottom makeover. Her makeup and hair look fine, but she hasn't got any pro tips to share. The simple recipes are undoubtedly delicious, but she's hardly a chef. ("Summer pasta with tomatoes, basil and brie" sounded so promising, but the instructions are basically: cook pasta. Add tomatoes, basil and brie.) The author simply is not an authority in any of these areas, nor does she have that special spark that can make a novice perspective fresh and enchanting. She gives instructions where she should be giving insight and advice; this book is all what and no why. There is a play-it-safe timidness throughout.By the way, cupcakes do make an appearance towards the end; they're made from a box mix. "I always keep one yellow and one chocolate on hand," she confides. I think that pretty much sums it up!
Immediatly stopped following her blog after this book came out. Litterally just took existing blog posts and rearranged them by season. None of her posts are revolutionary or even somewhat original. If you want to read a book that involves someone elses recipie for chocolate chip cookies or topics that are basically common sense than this is the book for you. I have been a fan of Cupcakes and Cashmere's blog for years and Emily's book definitely delivers all of the things you love about the blog in book form. I really like how Emily organized the book by seasons and touches on a style, makeup, entertaining, and food based on season. I have picked up a lot of great tips on simple changes to your makeup routine to incorporate through each season. Previously I kept the same makeup/skincare routine year around, but a lot more sense is made to add moisture in the dry winter months and other great tips!
LOVE HER BOOKS THIS HAS TAUGHT ME SO MUCH! After having my kids I feel like I have lost touch with these girly things. My daughter & I LOVE it & the recipes are AMAZING. She teaches you how to do your hair, makeup etc & she is SO classy. <3 it!!! BUy it! I am thinking of getting one as a gift for my bff & her daughter too.
I came on here expecting to be in the minority when I expressed my disappointment with this book, but it's somewhat comforting to see that I'm not the only one. Having been a fan of Cupcakes and Cashmere since the beginning, I had high expectations (considering the book had been hyped for almost a year before it's release), and advanced purchased my copy in January.I echo the sentiments of every disappointed blog reader here. The book is not only repetitive and clumsy, but it recycles 90% of her blog content (including the majority of photos).I was hoping to see information and pictures of her entertaining with her friends, dinner dates with her hubby, more DIY home hints, and transitioning different pieces in her wardrobe - from accessories to clothes, but the pictures that are included are mostly close ups and don't give you any idea of context. On the pictures, the best ones from the blog haven't even been included, instead choosing mostly outfit flops.To be honest, I have done little more than half-heartedly flip through the book after realising that I had read most of it before (on her blog). What's interesting is that Emily has always said that the reason for her success with Cupcakes and Cashmere, is ensuring that the content is fresh and informative. She certainly didn't take that approach with her book.It also feels slightly condescending, which leads me to agree that the target audience is indeed pre-teens - minus the alcoholic beverages and fake eyelash application!You may have made the top-selling list in Amazon, but that list really means nothing if you don't have the 5 stars to back it up.Martha Stewart, you are not.
After reading Emily Schuman's blog, of the same name, I decided to buy her book. I enjoyed the ideas she provided for each season. Emily makes style suggestions for entertaining, decorating, dressing and more. I think anyone starting out in a new home or apartment would like this book. It's a light and breezy book and you come away from this feeling like Emily is a close friend giving you advice. For the price, Cupcakes and Cashmere is worth a look. I think you'll enjoy this book as much as I did.
Gave this book to a 30 something Mom who is an interior designer and she went bananas! Emily is a chic gal who has a cute life! Fun make-up and photos - cute party ideas, general life-style read and wardrobe stuff is super cute.

This is definitely a poem one absolutely loves, or struggles to get past book one. I love it and re-read it every couple of years. The language surpasses common beauty and the knowledge Milton stored in his head was astounding. The insight Milton provides into why Satan and humans both rebel against God is of course speculative (can we know without revelation what was going on in Satan's or Eve's or Adam's mind) but profound and very believable. There have been too many books written and too many PhD's earned discussing this book to even attempt to do so in any Amazon review, but if you haven't read it, if you find much of modern writing somewhat lacking in that your mind can take a vacation while reading it, if you are willing to open your inner ear to beautiful manipulation of the English language, READ THIS BOOK. This is the free kindle version which is really quite good. It won't provide any notes, of course, but I found no glaring errors.
An epic, religious poem in blank verse on the "fall of man", the temptation of Adam and Eve, their disgrace and expulsion.We follow the fallen angel and antihero of Satan with a lot of references to Homer, Vergil and Edmund Spenser.I admit that some of the text went over my head whilst some touched me profoundly and gave food for thought.Milton's purpose was to justify the ways of God to men.Milton's answer, it was God's plan.I believe this is a poem many starts to read but do not finish, judging by the amount of highlights in the first half and the lack og any in the second half. I am glad i have read it and made some notes to dwell on but I doubt I will ever reread it. Although lyrical and beautifully written, it was also heavy and difficult to read.
Years ago, I first read this work when I was completing my master's courses in literature. I worked diligently and ploddingly to move through the abyss of confusion. With the help of Cliff Notes and of making careful notations in my book, it began to come together after the first fifty pages or so. (It was rather like learning to read middle English or Shakespeare.) Then, Milton's Paradise opened and I fell in. I stood in the Garden as the Snake tempted Adam and Eve. Never was there a more tantalizing personification of Evil. Yes, he was appealing. When Adam stood with God upon the mountain and looked at the fate of Mankind, it's decline and the fall, you, too, feel the intense pain and shame of Adam. Milton creates, in his vision, a recreation of an ancient story with an extraordinary slant.
There are many issues with this copy of the book. The traditional copy by Milton contains 12 books and this one only has 10 which makes it difficult to follow along with a class that would mostly use the traditional copy. Also, the book has no section to explain some of the biblical/theological references mentioned many times throughout the poem. The book contains no line numbers and is not centered to the left as a traditional book, but centered with the "Justify" setting. DO NOT purchase if you need to use this book to follow along with a class.
I had the possibility to read this classic, thanks to the free Kindle version (THANK YOU, Amazon). I thought that perhaps the fame of this work was due in great part to the religious subject matter, but it is actually a very good read and an interesting take on a widely known story. The older English shouldn't give any trouble to people with even just a good high school education.
If you need this for a college course, it does not have any line numbers, line breaks, or any other information you’ll need to complete assignments.
Okay, you can't expect too much from a free product. What I've come to terms with concerning free classics on my Kindle, it's that they sometimes have typos or formatting errors. From what I've been able to peruse of Paradise Lost, the formatting is all right. The typos, however, are harder to discuss since some editions of the work are edited for ease while others leave in Milton's original spellings of things. Having this and a wonderful printed version from Signet Classics, I'm more likely to open the paperback book. But, I like having it on my Kindle for when I'm on the go or need to search a particular passage. It's free, so I won't complain.
The first time I ever saw 'The Opposer' as human-like, the first time I ever asked "What would it be like to be a fallen angel?" Very good read that I highly recommend. This book recognizes a huge knowledge gap - companies' lack of understanding of the technology they need, the technology assistance they need, and how to get that assistance - and provides a simple, straightforward solution to such knowledge gap. Although this book is geared toward nonprofits, I believe the information and suggestions in this book are equally applicable to nonprofits and for profit companies, alike.
This is a fantastic resource for responding to RFPs. Whether you work for a startup that needs help defining its approach, or a large organization looking to streamline and codify its processes (my use case), you will find value in this quick read. I've distributed a copy to everyone in my department and put it at the top of the "required reading" list.
George and his team at Whole Whale provide a concrete, step-by-step guide to conceptualizing, operationalizing, and executing RFP's. Developing RFP's is almost always an arduous, long, painstaking process with too many chefs in the kitchen; this book provides meaningful steps to cut through so much of the nonsense that you see so often bog down and derail the process. Highly recommend it.
I only wish Mr. Weiner published this guide several years ago when our startup was drafting RFP's. Mr. Weiner--a budding star in the field-- once again adeptly guides his readers through a critical process that can go very wrong for the unwary. Don't learn the hard way when you can stand on the shoulders of ̶g̶i̶a̶n̶t̶s̶ whales with this invaluable resource.

Mr. Weiner takes the daunting-at-first-blush task of creating and understanding tech RFPs and - like a Sherpa guide or a fishing expediation captain - calmly and thoroughly walks the reader through the issues. I had a "whale" of a time reading this book! Thanks, Whole Whale!
